In the previous articles, I have explained the main properties and uses of PE plastic and PP plastic. Then, in this article, I will continue to degrade plastic raw materials for everyone - the main properties of PS plastic and its uses.
PS plastic, Chinese name: polystyrene. It is a class of plastics including styrene group in the macromolecular chain, the main varieties include ordinary polystyrene (GPPS), high impact polystyrene (HIPS), EPS and metallocene polystyrene (SPS), etc.. Its characteristics are colorless, odorless and tasteless.
PS is a relatively old plastic, through the years, its production process is also relatively complete. PS has good transparency (light transmission rate of 88%-92%) and surface gloss, easy to dye, high hardness, good rigidity, in addition, there are good water resistance, chemical resistance and processing flow properties. Its main disadvantages are: brittle, low impact strength, prone to stress cracking, poor heat resistance, etc..
From a broad perspective, PS is widely used in the optical industry, the main reason is because of its high light transmission, the manufacture of optical glass and optical instruments, but because PS plastic is a difficult inert surface materials, industrial lamination, the need to use professional PS glue bonding.
From a small perspective, the main uses are as follows:
1, electronic appliances: can be used in the manufacture of televisions, tape recorders and a variety of electrical instrument parts, shells, high-frequency capacitors, etc.;
2、Construction: used in the production of transparent parts of public buildings, optical instruments and transparent models, such as lampshades, instrument cover shells, packaging containers, etc.
3、Everyday use: combs, boxes, toothbrush handles, ballpoint pen sticks, learning utensils, children's toys, etc;
4、Other aspects: it can be used for foam to make shockproof, sound insulation, heat insulation, sandwich structure materials, refrigerators, trains, boats, airplanes, etc. also use them as heat insulation, sound insulation, and can be used to make life rings, etc.
